Law Enforcement Career
Chuck's interest in serving and protecting his community took root while studying at the University of Florida toward a degree in Criminal Justice. He was an intern at the Alachua County Sheriff's Office where he rode with patrol deputies, worked in warrants, and learned from real-life experiences that could not be taught in the classroom. His career began with the U.S. Marshals Service after graduating from college and he later joined his local agency, the Baker County Sheriff's Office, rising from patrol Deputy to patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant, Investigator and Chief Investigator with the rank of Major, a role in which he served for 16 years. He also supervised as many as 18 persons as Director of Sheriff's Special Operations in areas such as investigations, school resource officers, court security officers, highway interdiction teams, honor guard, SWAT team, specialized police equipment, warrants, civil process, sheriff's finance, and civilian office staff. Since Chuck's retirement from a nearly 30 year law enforcement career, he continues to serve as a Baker County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Sheriff and fully certified police officer.
